Through artful teaching from expert professors, a proud liberal arts tradition, and a supportive, yet challenging community, we help students realize immense possibilities. At Gonzaga, students become the innovative, compassionate, and courageous people the world needs most.
Gonzaga is a place for your ideas. We will help you develop your creative potential by posing important questions and helping you relate them to your academic pursuits. You’ll learn to use your talents and education to positively impact the world.
You’ll hear it time and again: Zags are people for others. We believe in the power of community and connections, of bonds of friendship and fellowship that extend across campus—and across the world.
There’s a reason we say we make a difference. Positive change doesn’t happen by accident. As Zags, we apply ourselves — mind, body and spirit — to purposefully, proactively engineer change that enriches all of our lives.

Location & campus
- Our campus includes handsome classic brick buildings and brand new, state-of the art facilities.
- Gonzaga is located in Spokane, a city that National Geographic Traveler magazine named one of the "Best Cities in the United States."
- Spokane is large enough to have plenty going on year-round, and yet small enough to be friendly, livable, and easy to explore. Eastern Washington and the nearby Idaho panhandle region boast a jaw-dropping landscape of rivers, lakes, mountains, and desert, with four beautiful seasons.
- We are on the "sunny side" of the state, with far less rain than western Washington.
- Gonzaga serves as a hub for students and professors, friends and fans, international scholars and local neighbors, who come together to learn from, support, and worship with one another.
location and campus
- Spokane is the second largest city in Washington state, it’s in the heart of the Inland Northwest, the non-ocean-reaching part of the broader Pacific Northwest, a region popularly called the Great PNW or “Upper Left.”
- We sit close to the 49th parallel, which means we’re close to the Canadian border (just about 100 miles). Spokane also borders northern Idaho to the east, and is surrounded by a diverse terrain that includes old-growth forests, mountains, scrub desert, rivers and lakes, and rolling hills of farmland called the Palouse.
- We’re big enough to have a thriving arts community that includes a symphony, civic theatre and dozens of art galleries, as well a performing arts center that hosts a Broadway series every year.
- “The Lilac City” also has an easy-to-navigate airport, so take note when it’s time to visit during the NCAA regional basketball tournament in March Madness. Which brings us back to Gonzaga – located on the Spokane River, just a short walk from downtown.
