Canada offers international students a good choice of excellent universities in a country consistently placed in the top ten for quality of life. It’s a multi-cultural nation with two official languages – English and French, a friendly population and a beautiful, varied landscape.

No matter what you want to study, Canadian universities should offer a great option. Undergraduate degrees typically take four years to complete.

Winters are cold – except in the southwest corner of the country, around Vancouver and Victoria. But that doesn’t put students off. According to the Institute of International Education, 435,415 international students were in Canada in 2019, making it the fourth most popular destination for students who studied abroad that year.

The university academic year typically runs from September until April. However some universities offer a semester system, including some that run programmes over the summer, so it is possible to start in September, January or May depending on which institution you choose.
